Evening Gazette Poll

The Evening Gazette have run an online opinion poll for people across Teesside.  The results illustrate the reality that people really are fed up with Gordon Brown’s terrible government:

Yarm Town Council

Yesterday evening I attended a meeting of Yarm Town Council.  It was not the usual regular meeting but one called in order to examine the achievements of the Council over the past year and goals for the future.  Yarm Town Council’s 9 Conservative local councillors have done a great deal in what is a relatively short period of time, with Sunday’s Gala being perhaps the most visible initiative.  I have no doubt they will continue to deliver for the people of Yarm and that the coming year will see yet more success for this hard working and dedicated group.

Yarm Gala Success!

Yarm Gala, local Councillors and James Wharton celebrate a successful dayDespite the weather being only mediocre the Yarm Gala was a huge success.  The Gala is a “new” event organised by the now Conservative run Yarm Town Council.  When I say “new” it is actually the return of tradition which goes back centuries but is the first gala in modern times (since the 1920s).  When Yarm elected a Conservative Town Council for the first time last year the pressure was on for the 9 new Councillors to prove their worth.

Today they demonstrated just what can be done when a group of community spirited people pull together and put in the necessary effort to really make a difference.  Yarm’s Conservative Town and Borough Councillors can be proud of their achievement today and can add it to the growing list of successes which are showing the people of Yarm what can be achieved when they vote for Conservatives at every level of government.  Chair Jason Hadlow and Councillors John Whyte, Julia Whitehill and Phil Suddess deserve special mention for their efforts, as do Borough Councillors Jennie Beaumont, Jackie Earl and Andrew Sherris.  I have no doubt that next year’s Gala will be even better!

Summer Party

Last night I attended the regional Conservative Ladies annual summer party.  We were extremely lucky to have superb weather for the event, which was held in Worsall village just outside Yarm.  It was also one of the best attended summer parties for many years with a real sense of excitement at the gorwing success of the Party in this region.  Sadly I did not win anything on the raffle!
