Despite the weather being only mediocre the Yarm Gala was a huge success. The Gala is a “new” event organised by the now Conservative run Yarm Town Council. When I say “new” it is actually the return of tradition which goes back centuries but is the first gala in modern times (since the 1920s). When Yarm elected a Conservative Town Council for the first time last year the pressure was on for the 9 new Councillors to prove their worth.
Today they demonstrated just what can be done when a group of community spirited people pull together and put in the necessary effort to really make a difference. Yarm’s Conservative Town and Borough Councillors can be proud of their achievement today and can add it to the growing list of successes which are showing the people of Yarm what can be achieved when they vote for Conservatives at every level of government. Chair Jason Hadlow and Councillors John Whyte, Julia Whitehill and Phil Suddess deserve special mention for their efforts, as do Borough Councillors Jennie Beaumont, Jackie Earl and Andrew Sherris. I have no doubt that next year’s Gala will be even better!
