Last night I attended a United & Cecil Club dinner. This club supports Conservative campaigning, especially in marginal seats. The dinner was well attended and an enjoyable evening, with Eric Pickles MP as the guest speaker. It was a good opportunity to catch up with some of the local supporters from Stockton who travelled up to join our table.

A friend asked if I would help advertise this and I am extremely happy to do so:

Yarm Town Council by-election
It looks like there is probably going to be a by-election in Yarm. It is not my place to go into the detail of the inner workings of local politics in the town, but I know that local Conservatives have an excellent slate of candidates ready to stand. What will be fascinating is whether Labour can even find a candidate; they seem to have all but disappeared these days. I would not be surprised if they cannot even find someone willing to stand as a Labour candidate, afterall they have let local people down so badly over the years. Will they even dare put a name forward or have they given up on Yarm altogether?

Thornaby Village Green
This morning i joined the Village Park Residents Association, who organised bulb planting on the Village Green in Thornaby. Care For Your Area supply the bulbs and local residents plant them throughout their area to brighten things up come Spring. I was pleased to help out and look forward to seeing the result of everyone’s hard work next year. The VPRA are holding another planting day on 2nd November and have an excellent website with details of this and other projects they support, they are a non-political group: www.vpra.org.uk
