Today I spoke at the North East Older People’s Summit in Tyneside. I was asked to wrap up the debate on cost of living and pensions.
It was an excellent opportunity to share ideas and suggestions for ways in which state provision and private pensions could be better managed. This was an extremely valuable event and I was pleased to be part of the day. Some of the questions put forward were particularly telling; it is shocking that after so many years of economic growth over 100,000 more pensioners now live in poverty. This damning indictment of Labour’s time in office speaks volumes and I dread to think how much worse it might get as the economy struggles.
