After work yesterday I went straight to the constituency office to meet Party members from across Stockton South. In what has become a regular monthly fixture we meet to discuss local issues in different parts of the constituency and what we can be doing to better represent residents and communities. It was a productive and interesting two hours, with a wide variety of ideas discussed and proposals put forward and agreed for the coming months.

Embarrassing moment for Labour MP
The Labour MP for this area had to be stopped on live TV during Prime Minister’s Questions because she went on and on without actually asking a question! We all make mistakes but this is becoming a running theme, knowing when to stop waffling and get to the point is an important skill which all politicians would do well to practice.

Euro Candidates and MEP
Early this afternoon I took our three Euro Candidates, who will be standing in the North East region in June’s European Parliament elections, on a tour of Stockton South. Martin Callanan MEP and his colleagues Barbara and Emma were pleased to get to see some of the sights and to discuss local issues. Martin often contacts me when issues which may impact on the Tees Valley are discussed in Europe and his work is invaluable in ensuring the North East is properly represented in Strasbourg and Brussels. I hope residents across Stockton will support their Conservative candidates when the time comes; with ever more legislation coming from the EU it is vital that we are properly representatived in the European Parliament.

William Hague MP
Last night I attended a Stockton Conservatives dinner with guest speaker William Hague MP, Shadow Foreign Secretary. William, as ever, gave an excellent speech which was enjoyed by everyone present. Stockton Conservatives continue to work hard to raise the funds we need to fight our campaign at the next election and I am grateful for all the support we receive from local people.
