Today’s visits

Today I attended a number of meetings in Stockton, including:

- Meeting local businesses for breakfast to discuss a number of economic issues specific to the Stockton area.

- A visit to North Tees Hospital to speak with the Chief Executive.

- Meeting a local newspaper to discuss some of the campaigns they are hoping to run over the coming year.

- A visit to the Bridge House Mission in Stockton which provides accomodation to homeless people in our community.

Friday in Stockton

On Friday I held a number of meetings, including visiting the Community Centre in Elm Tree, a local Mosque, meeting with Councillors to discuss education issues and visiting Leven Bridge, which has now been closed for too long.

Tomorrow I will be appearing on the North East Politics Show.

Weekend

I spent the weekend back in Stockton busy with local meetings and events in the constituency.

As well as an interview with the Gazette I attended Stockton Soapbox (speaking for a minute from a soapbox in the High Street) and met with Yarm Chamber of Trade to discuss issues facing the econonmy and local businesses, including the long running problem of parking in the town.

Setting up the office

Things are frantic both down in London and in Stockton.  From the moment the election result was announced I have had literally hundreds of telephone calls and emails from constituents, some asking for help some simply wishing me good luck and congratulations.  We are doing our very best to deal with everything but computers etc are not up and running yet so please be patient if there are any problems getting back to you – so far we are pretty much on top of things.

Thank you

Just a brief note to thank everyone who has been a part of my campaign and who lent me their support in yesterday’s poll. It was a close result and I look forward to working hard to represent Stockton South as its MP for the coming Parliamentary term.
