DECC Questions and Regional Chairman

I have submitted a number of questions to the Secretary of State for DECC .

Also, congratulations to Ian Galletley who was today elected regional Chairman of the Conservative Party in the North East.  Ian was my agent during the General Election campaign and has worked so hard for very many years, we could not have a better person taking up the position at this important time.

Street Pastors

A busy day Friday starting with a BBC Tees interview at 7.40 followed by meeting constituents, a chat with the Chief Constable, visiting Teesside University, dropping by my old work place to say hi (BHP Law on Preston Farm) and a meeting about the plans for a new school in Ingleby Barwick.  I then spent the evening out with Stockton Town Pastors, an excellent multi church supported group which go out on the High Street on Friday and Saturday nights helping people in difficulty.  They do everything from looking after young girls who become separated from their friends to handing out flip flops to people who have drunk a little too much for their high heels!  The police briefed the group at around 11pm and the feedback throughout the evening was extremely positive.  Anyone interested can find out more from the link below:

Today I went to Preston Park to see the Friends of Tees Heritage Park display – the work they are doing is excellent and I cannot wait to see the end results and tonight I am guest speaker at a BBQ near Richmond.

Gala and Constituency Work

After a busy week, including making my maiden speech in Parliament on Thursday, the weekend has been a busy one.

On Friday engagements included visiting RSPB Saltholme, a meeting with a local company to discuss problems they are having in developing a new business in Stockton, a surgery with local reisdents to discuss a range of problems and a working business lunch hosted by the Evening Gazette.  In amongst this of course was the decision by the government not to fund the proposed new Wynyard hospital, the right decision but a controversial one.

Later today I am attending Yarm Gala, an excellent annual event organised by local Conservative councillors.

Weekend diary

Friday was hectic, starting with an assembly at Teesside High School, then meetings throughout the day including with the Leader and Chief Executive of the Council to discuss a number of issues.  On Friday night I spoke in a debate at Durham, my old University.

The weekend was also packed, including a very enjoyable day on Saturday when I opened a local Brazilian Folklore Festival in Stockton.
