Yarm Parking and other issues

Today I had a series of meetings on local issues, including the Junior Neighbourhood Watch programme, speed bumps and parking in Yarm.  The Yarm parking meeting was attended by local councillors and traders, as well as a senior council officer who came to hear their concerns.

Tesco, Housing, Schools and Surgery

A busy day in Stockton today, starting with a meeting with the local Housing Options team about how we can tackle homelessness, then to Tesco in Ingleby Barwick to present the schools vouchers equipment to local primary schools Ingleby Mill and Bader, followed by a number of meetings at the office and a visit to Ian Ramsey School.  After that I held a surgery in Eaglescliffe.  In the evening visited the Robert Atkinson Centre in Thornaby to discuss a new youth club initiative and attended a dinner with businesspeople from across the area to discuss some of the things the government are doing to help our local economy.

Remembrance

I was honoured to lay a wreath at the war memorial in Stockton for the annual Remembrance Day ceremony.  Afterwards I attended the service in Stockton Parish Church and then the march past of local groups including Army and Navy cadets, the Salvation Army band and, of course, many of the vetrans who live in our Borough.
