I spent this morning and afternoon out in support of some of our excellent candidates for the coming local elections. I attended a coffee morning in Eaglescliffe followed by spending the rest of the day meeting residents in Yarm.

Constituency day
This morning I held a number of surgeries and meetings, including with foreign language students from Stockton Riverside College.
At lunchtime I attended the official unveiling of Community Action for Energy in Eaglescliffe’s All Saints Church solar pannel project- an excellent community initiative. This was followed by more surgeries and a meeting with Cleveland Police.
I finished the day with an open surgery at ASDA Thornaby, which was well attended. Interestingly I was told that some of the Labour candidates for the Council in Thornaby are going around saying they regularly speak with me about local issues- strangely I don’t recall their ever getting in touch but Dan, if you would like a chat, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Tyne Tees and Office day
I spent today in the office catching up with correspondence and dealing with constituency enquiries.
I was also interviewed by Tyne Tees for a news item about an very sad ongoing asylum case.

Coinciding with the excellent news that Teesside is to get an Enterprise Zone I hosted a dinner with Mark Prisk, the Business Minister, and a group of local business people to discuss the budget.
