Airport, flooring, surgery and Gateshead

This morning I visited Teesside Airport to look at facilities and see what can be done to secure its longer term future. Afterwards I was taken around a flooring factory just south of Thornaby and then held an open surgery at Eaglescliffe Tesco. In the evening I attended an event in Gateshead to meet a range of local businesspeople with some exciting ideas for projects they would like to promote on Teesside.

Mayor’s Sunday and Yarm Gala

This morning I attended Mayor’s Sunday in Stockton, which attracted Mayors and Mayoresses from all over the North East and a number of local councillors.

In the afternoon I went along to Yarm Gala, organised by local Conservatives every year. Despite the rain it was still extremely busy and I presented the prize for the winners of the dragon boat race.

Yarm Primary

I visited Yarm Primary School’s “Big Community” event and met teachers, pupils and parents. It was an excellent event and well supported by the community.

Schools and Colleges

This morning I attended the official opening of Stockton Sixth Form college’s new science block and then met pupils at St Cuthbert’s RC School in Stockton to discuss their ideas for the High Street.

In the afternoon I held surgeries at the office, including meeting with representatives from local HMRC employees.
